We think Playa Sosua is one of the best beaches in all of the Caribbean. It’s an amazing stretch of white sand with everything a tourist could dream of. Beautiful turquoise water, towering palm trees, lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent, and best of all - funky little beach bars with cheap beer and good eats.
Our focus today is one of our favorite spots on the beach - Bar Dominic.
Dominic and his wife Norma have owned this spot for well over twenty years, in fact Dominic was one of the first to open a bar on the beach. They can be found here every afternoon. Dominic is usually sitting at a table chatting up his guests in English, French or Spanish (he lived in Canada for many years before returning home to the Dominican Republic). Norma is usually orchestrating the kitchen and bar staff but don’t think you will escape without a hug and a kiss on the cheek. The most special part of Bar Dominic is the family atmosphere. You sit down for the first time as a guest but you leave as a part of the family. It’s easy to understand why people travel thousands of miles just to sit at Bar Dominic for a long weekend.
Bar Dominic is located at #65 on Playa Sosua
