We wrote last week about the new hotels being built. We got a lot of comments and messages from both sides of the fence. The loudest voice seems to be coming from the mongering crowd who think that this town cannot survive without their patronage. Well boys, you definitely do a good job supporting some of the businesses down on the strip but our guess is that deep pockets are gearing up to end your reign. In addition to the new hotels, there are a bunch of new residential projects that are suddenly popping up all over the place? These are definitely not being built with the intent of catering to the solo male traveler.
Here is what we saw yesterday during a quick tour of town.
Sosua Ocean Village just starting clearing lots for its next giant phase out by the tennis center. No idea how many homesites they have slotted but there is a LOT of property out there. SOV is all about families. Waterpark, kid zone, fishing pond, numerous swimming pools plus a new daycare center. We doubt very much that the investors of this project are lobbying for more single male tourists.
We also counted at least six new apartment buildings going up and four new residential projects occurring along route 5 between Sosua and Encuentro.
Proof is in the pudding so here are some photos of what we found.
